The lady who serviced me was very nice and helpful. She helped with the gps I added to the car . The only thing I didn't appreciate is that I booked the rental through hot wire.com and got a great rate. But if you arrive before time they do not honor that nor do they tell you their going to use Alamos rate. I also signed the contract for full coverage even though I originally said no thank you. . My bill went from $58.00 to about $207.00. I asked her after looking over bill why am I getting charged so much to rent the car instead of $ 9.99 to $19.96. that's when she said because I didn't come at thetime i stated on tezervation they have to charge me their rate. I said wow! I hope i have enough on card I reserved under

rented a car here through hotwire.com
Got a great rate. The car was clean and handled well. Everyone was friendly and helpful both on pick up and on drop off.
They provide a courtesy shuttle to and from the airport and both times the driver helped us with all our baggage (we were traveling with a toddler).

First time I've ever rented a car and last time I rent from Alamo!

When I arrived at the terminal, from my flight, I headed straight for the shuttle to take me to Alamo. Myself and one other man boarded and were let off at Alamo Rent A Car. He was dropped off at a special location before I was taken directly to the Alamo office. When I entered there were two women standing at the computers behind the counter and there were no other customers in there besides me.

When I approached the woman named Darlene, she was conversating with the other woman she was working with disregarding me and did not care to greet me upon entering. I didn't really give the lack of the greeting a second thought until the end of my experience. That was really only the beginning of the end.

Darlene and I started talking and going over the details of my pre-purchased rental car that I got through Hotwire.com. Since I pre-purchased the car, she started getting an unnecessary attitude with me. I explained that I paid for it with my debit card. I was unaware that MOST rental car places require a credit car. I do not own a credit car, so she started denying that I even purchased the car, then it was not until she pulled it up in her system to recognize it. She then asked me if she could see a copy of my flight itinerary, she told me that showing her on my phone was not acceptable. Again, I guess I was not aware that would be required. She accepted the mobile email which I do appreciate, but I don't appreciate the snappy 'you own me something' attitude she had.

As she is processing all my information, about 10 people walk in from another shuttle that had come through. Darlene starts holding a conversation with the people behind me whom she apparently is acquainted with in some form since she was asking the gentleman how his mother was and going on with leisure conversation while I am still standing there with questions and wanting to get details of my rental. I think cut into her leisure conversation asking if I could please finish up with her -- at that point she gives me the death glare and snaps back into this really horrible attitude she had previously with me. She looked extremely annoyed. As I mentioned before, I have never rented a car and was not aware of some of the requirements they had. I wanted her to explain things to me but I feel she lacked professionalism and respect for the customer. If I am shelling out over $200 for the rental car, I want detailed info and without the grief! I didn't get that from Alamo Rent A Car.

Once all was said and done, I went and got the car. On the way out where I had to show the woman at the gate before exiting my information, she was in the booth on her cell phone holding a conversation with someone. I am not sure of her name, but the woman literally held her index finger up telling me to hold on WHILE SHE IS ON HER CELL PHONE laughing and cutting up not concerned at all that I am sitting there with my info! I had been awake since 4:30AM EST time, for 5.5 hours at that point... I didn't want to wait while she was finishing up her conversation because I wanted to leave and go see my family. Once again, I felt they were extremely unprofessional. When I interrupted her, she slammed down her phone, clicked her tongue, and didn't even glance at my info when I handed it to her. She immediately pushed it back in my face, and proceeded on with her conversation. I left.

I can't imagine what the nightmare is going to be when I return my car. It was just awful. I hate to think this is how they treat all their customers and that their customers are not their first priority. I am not giving my money back to Alamo ever. The car I got was clean and nice, but the customer service was horrible and not even worth doing this again.

Alamo Rent A Car "DAMAGE" fraud

I recently travelled to Atlanta with rented a car through Alamo. Upon pick-up at the Memphis airport, I was brought out to the dimly lit garage where the attendant asked me to choose a car. Upon choosing a car, the employee simply handed me the keys and asked me to sign. He performed no inspection of the vehicle, and did not ask me to perform any sort of inspection. I was in a hurry, and I've never had trouble with rentals in the past, so I didn't think about how odd it was that the employee did not inspect the vehicle or ask me to.
I drove the vehicle to and from Atlanta. No damage whatsoever occurred to the vehicle, and I returned it at the Memphis airport. There was attendant to pick up a car and he point out a small damage happened to a car but I told him it was there when I picked up the car. He said that time ok that's fine. That was it!
2 weeks later, with-out a phone call, I received a letter in the mail from Alamo's "damage recovery unit" claiming I owed $1505.87 in damages to the vehicle, with 2 pages detailing all the extensive work that would need to be done, which was absolutely ridiculous. I know that no damage occurred at all, and I feel like I was taken advantage of. I feel like it was the employee's responsibility to inspect the vehicle or at least ask me to inspect it upon check-out. I've never had such a problem with other rental car companies. Upon further research online, I've found that this sort of scam is common with Alamo, as many consumers have been ripped off and scammed into fraudulent "damage" charges. I can't believe this company is allowed to carry a business license. My case is still under discussion with them since I refuse to pay these fraudulent charges. I'd just like to warn other consumers about Alamo and their scamming techniques. Be careful and avoid this company at all costs!

My family recently rented from the Alamo at the Memphis airport, and I will never rent from Alamo, at any location, ever again. We left something valuable in the car and realized it once we were on the plane. We called the branch and the headquarters to see if we could get the item back. We even had family who lived near by go to the branch to get the item for us, but Alamo was less than cooperative. They only attempted to assist us (half-assedly) after we called the corporate headquarters. Customer service is super important to me, and Alamo failed to deliver. Therefore, I will not do business with them again--EVER!

I rented a car last weekend to drive to Jackson, MS. I had to spend 15 minutes cleaning the car. There was what I hope was dried coke stains on the drive door and center console. There were gum wrappers in between the seat and console. When I left the lot I told the attendent and she made a "note" in my file for the manager, but when I returned the car nothing was mentioned about the "note". I will not be using Alamo again.

This has to be the worst Alamo in the WORLD!!!! (Location Memphis Airport) We have had 2 bad experiences with them. The first was through Hotwire. They didn't have the size car that I rented and to top it off they guy that shows you to the car was VERY Rude. The car was Dirty inside and out. They put the car back in rotation just way the previous renters brought it back. I messed up because my pick up time was late evening and I was leaving out early the next morning!!
My husband said we will give them one more try. Once again we got SCREWED. this time we picked up and the car smelled like SMOKE!! We had to buy an air freshener to try and kill the smell. Service was AWFUL!!!! Called to let them know about the smoke smell so we won't get charged.. they Guy it was listed on the post inspection from the last users.. My question is WHY not clean it before putting it back out there?People work TOOO hard for there money to deal with bad service!!!!! We will not rent here again.

Worst customer service. My flight was delayed. I called them and informed them about the delay. They said they will wait for me. When I reached Memphis, they already closed the counter and left without any notification. They don't care about their customers. Highly unreliable.
