Elegant late 19th century decor with chairs and benches in light wood, display cases displaying tempting Viennese cakes and pretty earthenware with painted portraits of historical figures. The arugula salad is perfectly seasoned and accompanies very good Königinpasteten (bouchées à la reine). The beef tenderloin is perfectly seared and tasty. Green asparagus is crunchy and fragrant. The apple cake a little too creamy. The service too casual for such an elegant restaurant.

Great spot for some afternoon coffee and cake typical of German culture. The staff were very nice and it all came out quickly!
The Lübecker Marzipan Nuss cake was divine. The house made lemonades were refreshing.
The location is also very convenient if visiting all the old town sights.
Touristy but in a good way. Highly recommended!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Frank T.Radebeul, Germany051523 Apr 2023
Erste Adresse an der Frauenkirche. Sehr große Auswahl. Vor allem zum Kaffeetrinken perfekte Adresse. Sehr guter, zuvorkommender Service.

The friends and I stopped in to Coselpalais for lunch while day tripping to Dresden. Having had a small breakfast, we were quite famished by the time we sat for lunch. Coselpalais is a beautiful Baroque building in the heart of the Dresden historic old town. There is a beautiful gated courtyard with seating under umbrellas but we had to maneuver our table a little so that we could all be out of the sun.
The courtyard was packed with a lunch crowd, and I have to say it took forever for a waiter to stop at our table to take our orders and throughout the meal, even though they were passing by quite often to surrounding tables.
It seemed a popular spot for desserts as several people sat and had some elaborately exquisite looking desserts and coffee or wine. The dinnerware looked palatial and presentation of food was A+. To eat, I started with the Reisling Soup with crayfish. I mean anything with wine must be fine lol Flavors were good. My main meal was also delicious and a healthy-sized portion - Roasted duck breast with cherries, wild broccoli, potato gratin with spicy mountain cheese. The friends had the Saxon sour beef in raisin sauce with red apple cabbage and potato dumplings which they cleaned their plates so it must have been good.
Food and location pretty good. Service I think leaves a little to be desired.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Kregg A.Portland, United States0318 Aug 2022
Food was pretty good, but the service was extremely poor. The server was rude, condescending and could barely be bothered to help us with questions in the menu.

Stopped on for a quick lunch and dessert. I took Yelpers advice and ordered the Saxon Sauerbraten. It was good, probably a little filling for a lunch but if you skip breakfast like I did it worked great. The potatos were the best and then the purple cabbage was actually delicious. I wasn't expecting that. The meat was good too but nothing special.
I then completed my meal with a dessert, I think you have to here. My only problem was trying to communicate to the waitress that I have a cherry allergy, so I ordered the chocolate mouse cake, she almost killed me, it had a cherry filling below the mousse. Seriously?! I guess my German could use some serious work. I did eat the top of the cake though, and the mousse was delicious.
Overall the ambiance was lovely, I was able to sit outside and enjoy the fall weather and besides the language barrier (my fault totally) the staff was super nice and very polite.
I would recommend this place on your next stop through Dresden.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dennis A.Mitte, Berlin, Germany05211 Apr 2018
Very good international cuisine.
If you just want to have something sweet and a coffee, just come here. They have almost every dessert there is, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
It's also very pretty inside, not really my type but it's almost Barock and it suits the surroundings.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nooshin Z.Broward, United States109231324 May 2017
