Our large group tried many items on the à la carte menu. There are signs of brilliance (cauliflower, lobster, sweetbread, St Pierre, the amuse-bouches). The food is very good, deserving of its 1 Michelin star and 17/20 Gault&Millau rating. Some may find certain dishes a bit too sweet. Service is professional, although on several occasions we were wondering where our wine was. Talented and friendly chef Julien Dumas appears frequently in the dining room to talk to guests - a real bonus!

Food was good, slow service and the environment was much more casual than expected. Again disappointed in the service and quality of food for Michelin star restaurant. Service was slow, our party was moved to the upstairs private room making service horrible in a very hot room.
You could show up in shorts/jeans and shirt to get service still. Showed up thinking that slacks and a shirt minimum were required, wearinf a suit but no tie to see a gentleman in white shorts and ed hardy shirt being seated.
They attempt an upscale environment with cheesy bow ties and a snobby smile, when we sat we waited 30 minutes just to order wine and when asked what we wanted to order it was before we could even ask questions about the menu. When a tasting just says tasting, the customer might actually want to know what items are part of the tasting.
Food was very good, but not suprisingly good or better than other restaurants i experienced in France. Not worth the time or price, however if you do eat here I would recommend the foie gras, and pistachio pigeon.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lauren T.Paris, France0255 Jun 2018
Been twice. Had the big tasting menu both times. Probably both of the best meals I've ever had, albeit probably the priciest. I wasn't entirely enticed by the menu at first glace, but in tasting it, it blew my mind. Really good for a celebration or classy night out. Caters to vegetarians upon request.

The WORST dinner ever. We had our NYE here and it could not have been more awful.
Service was horrific. They forgot that one in our party was a vegetarian and once reminded were unapologetic. They forgot to get us more water and opened a second (pricey) bottle of wine without asking. It was seriously a bad dream. It took 40-50 minutes between courses and often 20 minutes to clear our plates. The food was mediocre at best. They acted annoyed to have us in the restaurant.
Avoid at all costs. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Paris... Why risk it?!Helpful 38Thanks 0Love this 22Oh no 0 - Hollywood L.Philadelphia, United States56502514 Jul 2017
Absolutely elegant, warm yet minimal room with a long table great for large parties to celebrate. It's French. It's Paris. It's warm. Wine flows. The quintessential Parisian experience.

I love this place. Well, I used to.
I've been here a lot over the past few years and it's always been a go to because:
1. Food is Great
2. Service is great and incredibly friendly.
overall always a great place, but literally my last visit was so bad it is not forgivable.
I liked this place enough to looks up their famous canard apicius and try to make it at home for thanksgiving. I was a fan.
Took the family here for NYE in Paris because I thought it would be great as usual.
WORST RESTAURANT EVER.
1. Disgusting service. filling own water glass and forget about wine. literally getting out of my chair to go get the wine bottle.
2. COLD food. literally 45 minutes between courses and 20 minutes to clear plates.
Alain Senderens: your food is great. You dropped out of the Michelin system to have great food and friendly atmosphere. You should clear your current managers because right now you have mediocre food and awful service. My dinner was 2800Euros. for six people. Worst meal of the trip.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mikberly ..Newton, United States015414719 Oct 2014
SO overrated. I'd want to give this place
3 stars for the food but given the price no way. This place for the stuffy dusties.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Matt K.Philadelphia, United States2624901520 Jun 2011
After trying to get into at least 8 or 10 Michelin-rated restaurants in Paris, we were able to make a 7:30 reservation here. We entered a beautifully decorated room in both art deco and modern. Sensual lighting on the ceiling and underneath-lit etched glass on the walls that changed colors. There was even subdued lighting inside our table-top in floral patterns!
The 4 course tasting menu was paired with unusual wines, and the pairing choices were absolutely the best I have ever experienced. Some of the courses were inventive and some traditional, but all were done to perfection. The service was impeccable and efficient.
The Amuse bouche contained soba noodles and duck consomme aspic. Delightful.
The first course was foie gras terrine with beet juice reduction and wasabi, paired with a red Italian wine, a very big surprise, and it worked perfectly.
The second course was more traditional, turbot with mushrooms and a lemon cream foam, but it was done perfectly.
The third course was also traditonal, a dry aged beef sirloin with a beautiful sauce and puffed potatoes, which by the way were lighter than air. Getting them to puff that much is an art.
A pre-dessert featuring fresh strawberries was divine. The actual dessert was quite inventive and artfully arranged. It had pears, orange "marmalade" and ginger ice cream, as well as some spice and crispy things. Just fantastic.
To top it all off, we ended up paying half what most restaurants "gastronomique" would charge. A wonderful experience!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ron G.Philadelphia, United States01022913 Jun 2016
I went here for lunch Spring 2016.
The downstairs restaurant was deserted, and very miserable.
I chose the upstairs "cafe", which is typically full of atmosphere, as it is normally French who go there. I was the only non-French on my day.
Having eaten at Tour d'Argent the previous day, my expectations were high.
But why not? This is supposed to be a serious restaurant.
Utterly disappointing!
Service was OK for a normal place, but not for a top eatery.
The food was bland in the extreme.
The glass of wine I had was best drunk quickly.
Should have gone to Le Colibri on the other side of the square.
(P.S. Tour d'A was terrific!)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gafa N.Berkeley, United States014622 Sept 2012
It's hard to imagine that Senderens ever had a Michelin star -- maybe Senderens opted out of the Michelin rating system just in time...
We went last night and I'd say the food quality was mixed at best. The fricasée of chanterelle mushrooms (which my wife had) was excellent. The "mushroom burger" with foie gras was not (imagine cold button mushrooms on top of foie gras). The lobster ravioli at 50 Euros a pop was insipid; the cochon de lait was only o.k. The service was also unremarkable at best, off-putting at worst... We knew we would pay about 200 Euros/person, which we did -- so yes, expectations were a little higher...
If you must, try Bar le Passage upstairs, which shares the same kitchen as Senderens. You're more likely to pay a price point commensurate w/ the quality of the food...Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
