We've come here to watch a couple football matches, and every time it's been fun. They have a few flat screen TVs with the Sky network and plenty of seating space to catch a match. Overall the place has a pretty classic pub decor (lots of framed Guinness posters and concert bills on the walls, but minus the grit or foul smelling odor)...it's quite clean and comfortable.

Good prices on pints and drinks, and although I haven't had the food it looks decent and is served all day Mon-Fri. They have bands that travel through as well, and the crowd is a good mix between young and old mostly locals.

If you're looking for a more Canary Wharfish / countless ex-bankers in striped shirts hitting on British cougars / laser-light and blasting 90s music videos interior / TGIFriday's experience you probably won't dig this place. But if you are looking for a chill East London pub with a friendly staff and a local vibe, you should walk in here and actually give this place a try.

The Oporto is the type of place you pass when driving through East London. You're not actually meant to stop in there for a drink.

The pub just seems miserable to me. The staff seem depressed, the drinkers seem like they're escaping from something, even the walls seem rather miserable. It's like an end of world pub, not even depressing enough to be depressing, just kind of void-like.

In the early evening it can draw a bit of a bubbly, younger crowd; I'd imagine they're City-workers, but they soon pass on to other places.

The bar is kind of vacant and empty; I don't know, just a sombreness to the place.

Despite football is not my thing, I went with my flatmate to watch a match. No clue what it was but i wanted to experiment some of what the buzz is about here in England.
they had a big screen, so it was quite enjoyable and easy to wear the shoes of all those locals that die for it.
It was nice and light, but in case you had nowhere to sit, there is a small terrace with seats on the road. Anoter great point is that you have a impressive view of canary wharf.
staff was friendly, prices were low. Overall, very happy about it.
