Osteria L'Anfora is a small restaurant offering regional food at moderate prices in a locale a couple of blocks from the large piazzas.

The night we ate there it was filled with a mixture of tourists and locals.

No English menu but one of the waitresses was Argentine so we ordered in Spanish. Lots of super fresh seafood.

If you want a table outside, call in advance and make a reservation.

One complaint and maybe this is a cultural thing: a couple sitting at the bar had their dog with them. A large dog. The dog barked -- very loudly -- almost the whole time we were at the restaurant. The guy shouted at his dog from time to time, but other than that did nothing. You would have thought the couple would have taken the dog for a walk and returned when he had calmed down. Or that the owner would have said something.

      Nope.

I found it distracting. The other customers seemed pretty chill.

I don't see my original review here, so I'll try to remember. This is a small place in the Jewish Ghetto area of Padua. I would definitely recommend calling for a reservation. I came in around 6:30 pm but they were booked. They offered me a seat at the bar and I agreed and put my name down and then came back. The food was very good as well as the service. Some locals there were known to the staff, so it's kind of an Italian "Cheers". I actually forgot what I had but it must have been seafood since that's been my predominant diet since arriving here in Padua. I would go back again but would make a reservation first. There are only a few tables outside.

Delicious food, warm and cozy vibe, speedy and patient staff; what's not to love?
This was our first dinner stop in Italy, and remains my favorite from our trip. The waitress explained all the main courses on the menu and everyone was very pleased with their orders. Satisfying, affordable, great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

      Rigatoni and tomato sauce, delicious

Delightful authentic food just a bit off the beaten track. Famous for their bigale with duck ragu, which my daughter loved. I enjoyed the orrechiete with broccoli and smoked ricotta. We shared a tasty fritto misto and local wine. Very reasonable price. Not gourmet, but a fun place where locals go. You may share a table at a busy time.
