Pets At Home

This branch of Pets at Home has opened recently in New Mersey Retail Park in Speke. It is smaller than some other Pets at home Stores and it doesn't actually sell animals, which is a shame, but also maybe a good thing as I cant resist a cute furry friend.

Pets at Home has a wide range of items for Dogs, Cats, Small animals, fish, reptiles, birds, chickens, Horses and wildlife. They stock animal food, bedding, litter trays, cages, bowls, water bottles, perches, beds, collars, leads, carry cases, books, toys and much more.

The staff are very helpful and happy to show you where items are. The products are reasonably priced but aren't quite as cheap as smaller independent pet shops, but the products are of an excellent quality.

A great addition to the retail park.

I took my lovely lass apso into their groomers, and i can honestly say I was so shocked the way she was done. I asked for a 'teddy trim' and they took all her lovely coat off saying she was knotted and matted in places, she was NOT as i brush her every day and my regular groomer always puts her into a lovely 'teddy' so i didn't know what they problem was as she was only groomed 4 weeks ago. I couldn't get her in with my regular groomer, it was my fault for not making an appointment there and then. That is why i went here, and they charged me £42, I nearly choked as they said that she had a 'paw treatment' and something else treatment..
TERRIBLE please don't go here, they are not professional, and i don't believe for one min that they can groom all the different breeds to 'breed standard'.

Shockingly poor customer experience. Once myself and my partner were actually able to find a member of staff who was willing to speak to us, the woman we found clearly had no intention of providing any assistance of any sort. She, and for no good reason walked away from me when i attempted to ask her a most useful and relevant question.


The woman in question did however appear to be dealing with the sale of small mammals, which as a matter of interest appeared to have little to no food available.


The 'dumbo rats' were in my opinion rather young, they had no food available whatsoever. in addition to this they were busy eating the cat litter which pets at home use as bedding. The display cage was approximately 5-6 times smaller than the cage they recommended for two juveniles. Five were present in the display cage.


In summary this was the most deficient shopping experience i have ever had. Further it ranks as one of the worst pet shops i have ever been unfortunate enough to walk into.


Simply dreadful, unless ofcourse you enjoy being blinded by halogen spot lights, there is simply no other good reason to step onto the premises.

I have visited this store a few times with my dogs and the staff have always been very friendly and helpful. Before going, normally for large bags of dog food, I always order online to collect at the store. That way I know they have the main items I want in and sometimes you pay cheaper online than in store and it's very easy to do. Even if I have been before the two hour wait, that you are told to allow online, the staff have no problem in sorting you out and every trip has been a pleasant one.

i use this shop weekly,its the perfect pet shop! stocks and caters for most animals with a wide variety aswell as cheap prices. the shop includes a vets at the back and grooming salon! staff are helpful and happy!
