Sams on the Beach

Lots of good here. First off food is spectacular and we got served quite quickly which was a pleasant surprise. Their own brew is sorta OK. Not bad but I do expect more when having beer in the UK.

Only real complaint is the servers. Wish they would check on us in between bringing the food and bringing the bill. I had to wave my hand about for 2 minutes just to get the attention of the cook who then told the server.

I would go back but will do our complete order including refills, dessert and request for coffee all at once

Sam's on the Beach is in an awesome location in an old lifeboat hut on Polkerris beach near Par, it's part of a local fish restaurant chain. This Sam's offers a combination of fish, meat, salads and pizza. The fish is the thing to get at Sam's, it will be local and good. But, I'm vegetarian so the pizza is great for me, the anti pasta is also great and there's a good choice of local beers and other nibbles. The service is good, very friendly and laid back, rocking up covered in sand and wearing flip flops is absolutely fine. So my pre Sam's tip is to go for a nice long walk and a swim along the coast, there's lots of gorgeous coves along the coast towards fowey.

I had heard mixed reports about this place so was keen to try it.
The location is superb.
The staff are faultless and create a wonderful ambience.
The food lets this place down. It may be OK for Pizzas - they certainly looked great on other people's tables, but this should be more than a pizza place ! I had the Sardines and they were OK ( a bit overcooked) The others on my table had the steak and they were nothing special (the chewey gristly bits had to be left)


If I go again I'll stick to a Pizza but hope they'll get their 'food act' together. It should be better than this...but once again, well done to the waiting staff, they are brilliant!

Great meal had here. Tremendously good service, both friendly and efficient. Desserts awesome. Mains excellent. Drinks good too. Nothing but good things to say about this place.
