Only my second favourite Starbucks in town. They've got a lot of work to do if they're to take this accolade away from the one next to the Harcourt Luas Station
I hate to say it but I love their over priced coffee. The staff are always really friendly but I always get the same coffee the price varies from day to day, store to store, person to person. Some people charge the 60c for an extra shot and others 30c. Ive never actually sat down in this Starbuck, it's just a dash in and out on the way to work for my morning fix, but it looks fine to me.....they all look the same.
The only good thing is thr internet, other than that nay!. I dont find their coffee good and i really wonder why is packed with young people all the time. I guess if you are a real coffee addicts you wont turn to Starbux no way.
I used to come to this branch of Starbucks on a pretty regular basis, and I am not ashamed of it! The staff were genuinely friendly, not that starbucks forced smile stuff, honestly nice people who would have a bit of banter with you. They were, and still are I believe, the only place that serves old fashioned drip filter coffee in the area. They used to have two different blends on the go, the house blend - a dark, strong kick in the head kind of coffee, along with a rotation of their seasonal blends and lighter roasts. It was great, you could try something different every day and if you had one of those top up cards, filter coffee was only 1.50. What's not to love. Oh how things have changed - and not for the better. The first step downhill was when Starbucks HQ got rid of the loyalty price for the coffee, poor move. I fell out of love with the place when Fixx, Coffee Angel etc all moved in nearby. However the promise of a good cup of filter still had a draw on me, and in the last few months I've been in a few times for it. Unfortunately there seems to be a different set of staff there these days and they've been less than friendly on these occasions. Now I do not say this at all lightly; I have been on the other side of the counter in the service industry, I know how hard it can be, and I will give the benefit of the doubt that they were having a bad day, week, month. But still, a little extra goes a long way. Maybe I just got used to the friendly vibe in there. They also seem to only brew the house blend these days, or at least have only had it when I've been in, and it hasn't been good either for some reason. I think it's time for us to officially break up, Starbucks. It was fun while it lasted.
This Starbucks really needs to hire a security guard. Every time I am here, either a pikey kid comes in begging euros for Children's' Football (a scam) or a junkie off his tits comes round begging for change. The atmosphere is ruined by having to tell beggars to shove off. Staff are of little help.
Swung by today for a pumpkin spice latte before they disappear & the red cups arrive (yay). Clean, fast service & relatively inexpensive. Certainly on a par with the costa across the road. Starbucks are an occasional treat & I enjoyed the one today. Oh... Free wifi too :)
Best thing about Starbucks is the excellent big sizes of their drinks and the pricing. You really get more coffee for your money at Starbucks that any other coffee shop in this area. The coffee might not be the best but it is not bad and they have an excellent selection of coffees and teas to choose from as well as some delicious sandwich and rolls and cakes and other small meals to choose from. They always have soya milk in stock too. This branch on Dawson Street is small and cosy and has a three table outdoor street seating area. It is not the best outdoor area as it is right in front of a bus stop so it is pretty noisy and polluted but sure if you are smoking what does that matter? And there are a lot of beggars that come up to the tables to ask for change. But, apart from that it is a lovely branch of Starbucks!
OK I'm going on a bit of a Starbucks binge here... and i haven't even got the best taste for coffee.. but there is something to be said about the little things that certain Starbucks have that make the difference. This is one of my favourite places to go for a hot chocolate. I study nearby and find it is easy just to nip up here on those days when the brain is simply not going to work, buy a big cup of whatever and wait until one of the big, huge, massive, ultra-comfy, giant chairs becomes available near the window, sit down and watch the world go by. I love big windows in coffee shops... its a must have for me, and they do it well here. Pity bout the Starbucks prices though!
I'm not a big Starbucks devotee because I think you're charged extra for the brand name. I also don't like the fact that every cafe has to be the same and looks like someone's sitting room. And who likes to wait in a long line-up for a plain filter coffee. I guess you can see where this review is going.... I can't think of anything that Starbucks does better than any other cafe in Dublin. The same goes for the one on Dawson Street. It's boring and lacks personality like all the other Starbucks around the world.
A really nice, small Starbucks. It has a quiet atmosphere compared to the busyness of the other ones in the area. The staff are very friendly, and not to mention knowledgable.
While Starbucks coffee isn't actually the nicest coffee out there their Dawson Street branch earns a fifth star due to their excellent and friendly staff. It's the reason I keep going back there again and again. They make their customers feel welcome, go out of their way to make conversation and always have a smile on their face. Customer service like that is very hard to find in cynical old Dublin sometimes. Which is annoying because it makes a huge difference to peoples opinion on a business. I usually make it my business not to go somewhere again if the staff are ever rude or unhelpful. Just one of my pet peeves.
Venti Caramel Macchiato - perfect! less than a fiver which is awesome! Staff are a bitta craic too!
Not the nicest Starbucks in the city (Westmoreland Street), but not the worst (Grafton Street). It does coast by on it's brandname, offering reasonable coffee and food at extortionate prices. I always seem to end up reasonably happy with what I get there, but also feeling ripped off.
nice cappuccino, nice staff. not usually a starbucker but this was as good as any I've been to.
