if you order the chicken for 2 (which is ok for 3) & share the caesar salad & stick to just a glass of wine - this place is great & you wont feel ripped off.
those 2 dishes are excellent & exactly the way they should be.
otherwise, prepare for extremely expensive dishes
( like $32 for a fish "stew" which was actually a few very small pieces of seafood in a small puddle of broth - tasty but tiny,
      or
like $19 for a fried appetizer plate which was actually 3 pieces of fried veg & 3 skinny onion rings
      or
$10 for a watermelon granita which was actually a few ounces of a salty (yes salty)watermelon icee with what they said was mezcal but was actually not detectable .

but if you stick to the chicken & caesar you'll be fine & you'll walk out happy.

this review is for a $50pp private wine tasting event i arranged for a group of 17.
      pros-
      ---beautiful room.
----fun presentation about history of winery.
--- nice selection of about 4 cheeses, marcona almonds, castravano olives & breadsticks.
-----tasting included pour of 100$ bottle of wine.

      cons-
---they insisted on charging for our 14 & 17 year old even though they cant drink.
      ----the presentation was about 15mins.
$50 pp at a restaurant can get you a full meal.
in wine country you get a cumulative 6 ounces of wine & some cheese bites & a short talk.

this winery isnt the only one guilty of pure gougery, i know there's demand, people pay an insane price to be treated to a few tastes of wine. i thought a wine tasting was marketing to sell wine. but i see its a cash cow operation. if you have money to burn , sure go ahead & book this event - its a nice place with nice wine. really - they're very nice people & had some tasty wines& the drive in is beautiful. but don't do it if you're paying tuition or have a mortgage or bills to pay.

standard diner fare. stick with egg dishes.
i mistakenly ordered salmon salad - "spring mix " is kiss of death.
slimey, sad & just plain depressing.

they're trying so hard - so many people running around there - but the food is not good. first tip off - bad quality bread. this is nyc - no excuse for this.
kale salad is small & amazingly - flavorless.
mussel dish -looks big in large shallow bowl but mussels are sad & again flavorless.
chickpea fries - tiny portion & weirdly bland.
hard to find a restaurant with thoughtful food on upper west side.

excellent salads. long foccacia is extremely expensive - $ 6 or 7 a strip. delicious on same day - but tough & plain greasy the next day.
